Frequently Asked Questions

What will a website offer my business?

A website is possibly your most powerful marketing tool. It reaches more people than a local TV ad, yet costs less and is interactive. It can reach potential customers that won’t open the phone book or would otherwise not find you by conventional means. It gives your organization a level of credibility that customers expect from a reputable business.

How will I know how effective my website is at bringing me business?

The effectiveness of your online presence can be measured many ways. Conversion tracking is one method of determining the number of visitors that convert into clients. Placing certain tracking code on various “Landing Pages” can determine how far a visitor gets in your purchase or contact process. Online coupons that customers print off and bring in to your store will help you determine how many patrons came in because of a deal offered on your website.

Can I use a counter on my site to see how many visitors I get?

A counter was a common webpage feature about a decade ago. Modern websites use Analytics (often known as web stats or traffic analysis) to determine many dimensions of your website’s traffic and your visitor patterns. Tracking code is embedded into each page and this is combined with analysis of request headers and search engine data to determine by what means a visitor got to your site, what pages they visited, how long they stayed, why they left and much more.

My neighbor or my son’s friend got us an account with GoDaddy and is building us a site. Why would I pay you to do it?

Having a website built is much like many other products and services. There is a large gap between do-it your-self or consumer grade and professional work. You can have your front desk associate do up a print ad in Microsoft Word but it may not be effective. You can have your personal assistant write your terms-of-service agreement, but don’t expect it to stand up to a liability suit. There are many ways a home-made site will not be taken seriously, not to mention search engine optimization, traffic and visitor analytics and online security.

I already have a site that I really like. How do I get people to come to it?

There are many ways to drive traffic to your site, and there are also ways to keep them interested and keep them coming back. Getting the traffic can and should be done by several different means. Search engine optimization helps get you on the search results in a position that will catch peoples attention. Pay per click advertising gives you guaranteed impressions and can guarantee website visitors at a fixed price per visit. Email marketing, coupon incentives, online attractions and give-aways will also give people a reason to go to your site.

My visitors don’t stay long on my site and they don’t come back regularly. What can we do?

Perhaps you have a good-looking site, but you don't have a great site. Its possible your site doesn’t have enough interesting content or resources. Or there is too many paragraphs to wade through on the landing page. A user will not visit a site that doesn’t catch their attention or offer them a reason to be there. Often there are small and possibly even large things that can be done to get quality visitors and return trips. This is where technology meets marketing, and there is a fine line.
